%X In this paper we introduce a new method for the piecewise representation of implicit objects based on mulstiscale decomposition of the implicit function. We define a model that is adapted to the implicit function at multiple scales. This model is described in terms of B-spline functions which are suitable for geometric computations. We construct a representation that is structured and hierarchical. This description combines the best features of point skeletons and volume arrays. The multiscale decomposition models, the conversion from volumetric to implicit representations, rendering of implicit surfaces using ray tracing, and volume visualization.
